After some careless play in the POSSE 1911 FC defense, Bennvar Post kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Angel Xabel. The POSSE 1911 FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Angel Xabel should have stopped the shot. A collision led to POSSE 1911 FC getting a freekick after 26 minutes play. Mincho Shahanov hit a great ball. POSSE 1911 FC's Angel Xabel played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Roland Björklund in the 33rd minute of play. After 37 minutes, Roland Björklund mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the National Team Cape-Verde and the POSSE 1911 FC players grew even worse after the yellow card. Roland Björklund hit a great freekick 37 minutes into the match. With a little luck, National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson got control of the ball when Sérgio Aguero tried to sneak it across the goal line. Sérgio Aguero ran back to his position shaking his head. Angel Xabel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fredric Melander, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sérgio Aguero stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Tymoteusz Watarz got free with Angel Xabel in the 53rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. When Xavi Guardiola fell near the penalty area in the 53rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored POSSE 1911 FC's protests and gave Xavi Guardiola a yellow card for diving instead. The supporters of National Team Cape-Verde booed when POSSE 1911 FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 90 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfredo Di Marco didn't get a good kick on the ball. National Team Cape-Verde's Pål Sefastsson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Sérgio Aguero in the 93rd minute of play.
