Spectators: 46 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 11, VIP seats: 0) Ricardo-Enrique Bochini started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 3rd minute the ball was on its way in behind AFC Ajax's goalkeeper Akis Sarafis, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 5th minute Ricardo-Enrique Bochini shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Akis Sarafis saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Ricardo-Enrique Bochini had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 10 minutes into the match, AFC Ajax's goal looked a bit too open when Ştefan Costin came free, but Akis Sarafis reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Isac Hojbota made a fantastic save in the 12th minute, when Michelangelo Merganiotis sent off a good shot on target. Akis Sarafis made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ştefan Costin in the 15th minute of play. In the 17th minute, Michelangelo Merganiotis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Michelangelo Merganiotis recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 22nd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Vintilă Bălășescu hit a great freekick 25 minutes into the match. FC Politehnica Timisoara's Isac Hojbota proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save FC Politehnica Timisoara from getting a goal against them. Akis Sarafis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ricardo-Enrique Bochini in the 34th minute of the match. The supporters of FC Politehnica Timisoara booed when AFC Ajax was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Thomas Kallergis didn't get a good kick on the ball. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

AFC Ajax's Bob Marley was substituted for Markos Seremetidis. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Bob Marley to make the kick off. Isac Hojbota came out of the goal in the 54th minute to try and stop a shot by AFC Ajax's Stavros Tsebelis. But to his dismay, Stavros Tsebelis quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. After 59 played minutes FC Politehnica Timisoara got a freekick which was hit by Ernest Manea. After 60 played minutes FC Politehnica Timisoara got a freekick which was hit by Ernest Manea. In the 63rdth minute of the game Ştefan Costin who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but AFC Ajax's Akis Sarafis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 69 minutes, Piotr Markowski mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the FC Politehnica Timisoara and the AFC Ajax players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, FC Politehnica Timisoara's Piotr Markowski got a free kick in the 69th minute. AFC Ajax's Kyriakos Seremetis was substituted for Thalis Karteris. When Bob Marley came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the AFC Ajax fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Bob Marley couldn't finish the play. In the 72nd minute Bob Marley shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Isac Hojbota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isac Hojbota showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bob Marley, who was totally free with the ball in the 73rd minute. The corner led AFC Ajax's Miltos Margaritidis to fire away a dangerous shot which Isac Hojbota despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. In the 91st minute, Nicolae Nicoliță made a precise shot to the right of Akis Sarafis. AFC Ajax's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. Ştefan Costin kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match. 96 minutes into the game, AFC Ajax's Bob Marley nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Isac Hojbota made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. AFC Ajax's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
