In the 4th minute the ball was on its way in behind Brujas KV's goalkeeper Petruț Dicu, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 5 minutes into the match, Brujas KV's goalkeeper Petruț Dicu had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Håkan Lindgren. Ni Jun Sha dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. Brujas KV's Petruț Dicu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 28th minute of the match, managed to save Brujas KV from getting a goal against them. 29 minutes had been played when some careless play by Brujas KV's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Di Yi Yuan was slow to take the kick. During this time Brothers of Mercy's players had a chance to rest. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Brujas KV's goalie and right to Håkan Lindgren. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Brujas KV's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. Israel Otsando hit a great freekick 33 minutes into the match. Brujas KV were furious when Hong Yao Peng was red carded, 38 minutes into the game, but the referee dismissed their protests. 37 minutes into the game, one of Brujas KV:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. When the match had been going on for 39 minutes, Brothers of Mercy's Christer Valler got an opportunity to shoot a penalty. He stayed cool and waited for the goalkeeper to move, before he confidently shot the ball into the goal, to the left of Petruț Dicu. Brothers of Mercy's Ni Jun Sha played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Torrey Molloy in the 42nd minute of play. Ni Jun Sha took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Torrey Molloy, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 46th minute, Håkan Lindgren got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.
Brujas KV made a substitution. Martin Mundo replaced Israel Otsando. Brujas KV's Conrado Romero was substituted for Torrey Molloy. Brothers of Mercy's Alex Axelsson was substituted for Roger Strömberg. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Håkan Lindgren made a kick off. Petruț Dicu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Håkan Lindgren in the 54th minute of the match. Melker Bergdal's late challenge caught a Brujas KV's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Melker Bergdal helped the player get up and apologised. After 62 played minutes Brothers of Mercy got a freekick which was hit by Melker Bergdal. 65 minutes into the game, Brothers of Mercy's Håkan Lindgren nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Petruț Dicu made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-1. Ni Jun Sha made an important save on a dangerous shot by Conrado Romero in the 67th minute. Petruț Dicu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Håkan Lindgren in the 70th minute of play. Conrado Romero's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 73rdth minute, Ni Jun Sha skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. Manoel Cunha kicked well hit freekick during the 78th minute of the match. Håkan Lindgren took the ball and in the 80 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Petruț Dicu. Petruț Dicu dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-1. When Håkan Lindgren came up free with the goalie in the 88th minute, the Brothers of Mercy fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Håkan Lindgren couldn't finish the play. Christer Valler sent away a hard shot on goal in the 93rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. For all the effort they put into the match, the Brujas KV players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Brothers of Mercy.
