The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. An unexpectedly hard shot by Berkay Şahiner in the 4th minute of play forced C. A. Pipon Pipon's goalkeeper Jannes Ruttens to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. istanbulls's Göksel Canfeda proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 6th minute of the match, managed to save istanbulls from getting a goal against them. Ronalds Koeman hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. In the 8th match minute, istanbulls was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Nadir Yalvaç to maneuver through the defense. 9 minutes into the match, istanbulls's goalkeeper Göksel Canfeda had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nicky Bryson. Ferdi Coşan hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. With a little luck, istanbulls's Göksel Canfeda got control of the ball when Justus Lintorf tried to sneak it across the goal line. Justus Lintorf's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 17thth minute, Göksel Canfeda skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. In the 28th minute of the match C. A. Pipon Pipon got a corner. istanbulls's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Al Whatley ran over to the corner to take the kick. The audience was convinced that Beto Montenegro's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Göksel Canfeda was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. With his leg Göksel Canfeda managed to avoid a goal in the 32ndth minute, when C. A. Pipon Pipon's Nicky Bryson fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Jannes Ruttens made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Patric Bierhoff in the 35th minute of play. 36 minutes into the match, C. A. Pipon Pipon's goal looked a bit too open when Patric Bierhoff came free, but Jannes Ruttens reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ferdi Coşan lost his temper 41 minutes into the game and shoved another player to the ground. He was immediately shown a red card. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 40th minute of the game. One of istanbulls:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of C. A. Pipon Pipon:s goal. Nicky Bryson shot the penalty kick by force right in the crossbar. No goal. Haldun Özol hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. After some fancy dribbling in the 44th minute, Beto Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. C. A. Pipon Pipon's supporters rose to their feet, but Beto Montenegro was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Göksel Canfeda breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Patric Bierhoff in the 46th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jannes Ruttens saved C. A. Pipon Pipon from getting behind. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 1-0 at half-time.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Patric Bierhoff made a kick off. Patric Bierhoff sent away a hard shot on goal in the 52nd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Nicky Bryson came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the C. A. Pipon Pipon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicky Bryson couldn't finish the play. In the 56th minute, Beto Montenegro made a precise shot to the right of Göksel Canfeda. istanbulls's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-0. 59 minutes into the game, Alp Enginalp was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. istanbulls's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave C. A. Pipon Pipon the free kick. The supporters of C. A. Pipon Pipon booed when istanbulls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 59 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alp Enginalp didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Nicky Bryson came up free with the goalie in the 60th minute, the C. A. Pipon Pipon fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Nicky Bryson couldn't finish the play. In the 65th minute, Latif Şakir hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. C. A. Pipon Pipon made a substitution. Jose José replaced Bozhin Bishkarov. Latif Şakir hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. Nicky Bryson took the ball and in the 69 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Göksel Canfeda. Göksel Canfeda dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-0. In the 73rd minute, Justus Lintorf left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The C. A. Pipon Pipon fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 4-0. Justus Lintorf's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Göksel Canfeda read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 75th minute of play. In the 77th minute Patric Bierhoff shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jannes Ruttens saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Göksel Canfeda took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nicky Bryson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Göksel Canfeda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Justus Lintorf, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. Alp Enginalp hit a great freekick 87 minutes into the match. In the 88th minute, Alp Enginalp hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. istanbulls's Göksel Canfeda played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Beto Montenegro in the 89th minute of play. Göksel Canfeda showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Jose José, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute. C. A. Pipon Pipon's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
