Fausto Preuss's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Rosendo Balesio read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 3rd minute of play. The supporters of FCSB CUENCA booed when AC Rangers was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Crispin Grassow didn't get a good kick on the ball. 0-1 became the score in the 5th minute when Marcio Carreira elegantly shot the ball into goal just under the crossbar. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Marcio Carreira in the 14th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Rosendo Balesio prevented the ball from getting in the gole. When FCSB CUENCA's Salbatore Colillas in the 15th minute got a chance for a shot 15th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye AC Rangers's goalie prevented a goal. In the 17th minute Wei De Ling shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Beto Sola saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Beto Sola was a little too slow when Clodoveo Neto got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 19th minute. The score was now 1-1. Crispin Grassow hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. The referee gave FCSB CUENCA a penalty, 24 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Samuel Dracena, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of AC Rangers's Rosendo Balesio. 1-2. Beto Sola took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Wei De Ling, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 27th minute, Wei De Ling made a precise shot to the right of Beto Sola. FCSB CUENCA's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. After 30 played minutes AC Rangers got a freekick which was hit by Tihomir Leustek. 35 minutes into the match, AC Rangers's goal looked a bit too open when Marcio Carreira came free, but Rosendo Balesio reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 38th minute Americo Olivar shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rosendo Balesio saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The audience was convinced that Americo Olivar's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Rosendo Balesio was relentless in the 38th minute of the game. Rosendo Balesio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Americo Olivar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Marcio Carreira fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Rosendo Balesio having to interfere. Tihomir Leustek kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. Rosendo Balesio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Preuss, who was totally free with the ball in the 46th minute. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

Marcio Carreira who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 50thth minute tested the skills of Rosendo Balesio when he managed to save the team from getting behind. AC Rangers made a substitution. Armando Sotero replaced Clodoveo Neto. AC Rangers's Amancio Inocente was substituted for Ezequiel Ilazki. After 60 minutes AC Rangers's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Samuel Dracena who took care of the corner kick. Rosendo Balesio made a fantastic save in the 64th minute, when Americo Olivar sent off a good shot on target. Beto Sola made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Wei De Ling in the 68th minute of play. Rosendo Balesio made an important save on a dangerous shot by Marcio Carreira in the 70th minute. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Fausto Preuss in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Rosendo Balesio saved AC Rangers from getting behind. Rosendo Balesio took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fausto Preuss, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rosendo Balesio showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fausto Preuss, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. Fausto Preuss took the ball and in the 75 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Rosendo Balesio. FCSB CUENCA's supporters were very happy and cheered loudly because their team had won after a very close match.
