In the 4thth minute of the game Yannis Perathoner who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rafaela FC's German Ourente was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 7th minute, Tran Delicati hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. German Ourente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilbert Schaer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Gilbert Schaer's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but German Ourente read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 14th minute of play. Dan Rüdy's late challenge caught a Rafaela FC's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Dan Rüdy helped the player get up and apologised. After 15 played minutes Zelg FC got a freekick which was hit by Dan Rüdy. Cameron Bragger made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Victoriano Ostots in the 18th minute of play. The audience was convinced that Gilbert Schaer's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but German Ourente was relentless in the 20th minute of the game. 23 minutes into the match, Rafaela FC's goal looked a bit too open when Yannis Perathoner came free, but German Ourente reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Rafaela FC booed when Zelg FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Hercules Brütsch didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 27th match minute, Rafaela FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Victoriano Ostots to maneuver through the defense. Leonides Vito who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 33rdth minute tested the skills of Cameron Bragger when he managed to save the team from getting behind. German Ourente made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gilbert Schaer in the 36th minute of play. 40 minutes into the game, Zelg FC's Yannis Perathoner nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. German Ourente made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. German Ourente showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Yannis Perathoner, who was totally free with the ball in the 43rd minute. German Ourente took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Gilbert Schaer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After the first half Zelg FC were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Jens Oschwald to make the kick off. Zelg FC were clearly unhappy with the draw, as they felt they had done enough to earn themselves a victory.
