An unexpectedly hard shot by Wlodzimierz Siwy in the 9th minute of play forced Rafaela FC's goalkeeper German Ourente to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Newcastle United were awarded a corner in the 27th minute after Rafaela FC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Zbigniew Kalinowski took the corner. 41 minutes into the game, Wlodzimierz Siwy cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. German Ourente was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 47th minute Wlodzimierz Siwy shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but German Ourente saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-2 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Braulio Vermudo made a kick off. German Ourente made an important save on a dangerous shot by Mateusz Polakowski in the 52nd minute. In the 55th minute, Newcastle United's Waclaw Zagrobelny dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 0-3. 59 minutes into the match, Rafaela FC's goalkeeper German Ourente had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Mateusz Polakowski. Wlodzimierz Siwy's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but German Ourente read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 72nd minute of play. Braulio Vermudo took the ball and in the 74 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kajetan Kossakowski. Kajetan Kossakowski dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-3. Mateusz Polakowski took the ball and in the 79 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised German Ourente. German Ourente dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-4. Waclaw Zagrobelny received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. German Ourente came out and tried to block the shot, but Waclaw Zagrobelny slotted it home off the left post making it 1-5 in the 86th minute. Newcastle United's Wlodzimierz Siwy got a good chance for a goal in the 90th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After 91 played minutes Newcastle United got a freekick which was hit by Gustaw Nuszkowski. Kajetan Kossakowski took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Braulio Vermudo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. German Ourente showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Waclaw Zagrobelny, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. In the 97th minute of the match Zbigniew Kalinowski shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but German Ourente showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Newcastle United played a much better game than Rafaela FC and deserved their victory. The Rafaela FC players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
