Spectators: 37 (Terracing: 29, Seating: 8, VIP seats: 0) Serafim Simão started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. 7 minutes into the game, Serafim Simão cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Candido Millan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. After a defensive mix-up in Palermo's zone, Jhon Barcellos stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Candido Millan came out of the goal and Jhon Barcellos tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The audience was convinced that William Luz's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Candido Millan was relentless in the 28th minute of the game. 35 minutes into the game, Palestra do Interior's Serafim Simão nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Candido Millan made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-2. 39 minutes into the match, Palermo's goal looked a bit too open when Serafim Simão came free, but Candido Millan reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Palermo booed when Palestra do Interior was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dorival Almeida didn't get a good kick on the ball. Palestra do Interior's Ivo Fantini got a good chance for a goal in the 44th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Serafim Simão scored 0-3 in the 47th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Candido Millan, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Pedro Maraman to make the kick off. Candido Millan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from William Luz in the 52nd minute of play. After a rather tough play, Palermo's Norberto Lehen got a free kick in the 54th minute. Candido Millan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jhon Barcellos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Serafim Simão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 58th minute of the match, but Candido Millan made a huge save. Jhon Barcellos was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 61st minute. Palestra do Interior's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. Serafim Simão could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 69th minute of the match, but Candido Millan made a huge save. Candido Millan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jhon Barcellos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 72 minutes into the game, Dorival Almeida cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-4. Candido Millan was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Candido Millan didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Serafim Simão went, in the 78th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-5 was the resulting score. In the 80th minute, Angelino Urbez hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 81st minute of the match Ivo Fantini sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Candido Millan skillfully saved the ball. Candido Millan showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Serafim Simão, who was totally free with the ball in the 86th minute. Ivo Fantini kicked well hit freekick during the 90th minute of the match. After a rather tough play, Palermo's Alvaro Ermano got a free kick in the 92nd minute. After 93 minutes of play, Palestra do Interior's Serafim Simão made it 0-6 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Candido Millan was left in no man's land by his defense there! In the 96th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by David Vale to maneuver through the defense. When the final whistle sounded Palestra do Interior left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Palermo.
