After 2 minutes, Hernan Louis mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Santa Lucia de Merlo and the Estudiantes de América players grew even worse after the yellow card. After 2 played minutes Santa Lucia de Merlo got a freekick which was hit by Hernan Louis. In the 7th minute, Kraig Fred ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Norberto Tino was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1. Santa Lucia de Merlo's Norberto Tino played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Kraig Fred in the 22nd minute of play. Marcos Ranolfo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from M. Agus Young went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Kraig Fred in the 27th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Norberto Tino prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Estudiantes de América were awarded a corner in the 29th minute after Santa Lucia de Merlo's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Szymon Pilitowski took the corner. Szymon Pilitowski made a great header on Estudiantes de América's corner, it was just that Santa Lucia de Merlo's Norberto Tino managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 33rd minute, Kraig Fred got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. With a left leg Norberto Tino saved Santa Lucia de Merlo from getting behind. After the first half Estudiantes de América were leading 1-2. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when M. Agus Young stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Kraig Fred dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Norberto Tino, 1-3. Estudiantes de América's Concetto Trasatti was substituted for Fran Tudor. Estudiantes de América made a substitution. Orlando Beltza replaced Kraig Fred. After 64 played minutes Estudiantes de América got a freekick which was hit by Kraig Fred. The supporters of Estudiantes de América booed when Santa Lucia de Merlo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 65 match minutes in a wonderful position. Levan Poggenborg didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 68th minute the ball was on its way in behind Estudiantes de América's goalkeeper Marcos Ranolfo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Marcos Ranolfo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Polo Quinteros, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Ermegildo Salamon hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Santa Lucia de Merlo's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Orlando Beltza was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-4.

The Estudiantes de América players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
