After 13 minutes of play, Brugge United's Guido Vissenaeken made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Maelgwn Le Bars was left in no man's land by his defense there! An unexpectedly hard shot by Guido Vissenaeken in the 16th minute of play forced En avant de guingamp's goalkeeper Maelgwn Le Bars to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ni Jun Liang took the ball and in the 17 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Vítor Baia. Vítor Baia dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 1-1. In the 25th minute En avant de guingamp were awarded a corner. Pan Xiang Kuan went to the cornerflag to take it. The corner led to En avant de guingamp's Denizhan Ünüvar getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. Vítor Baia showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ni Jun Liang in the 27th minute of the match. A nice corner shot did that Pan Xiang Kuan got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Vítor Baia quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 35 minutes into the game, Luc Anstett cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Vítor Baia was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Vítor Baia showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ni Jun Liang, who was totally free with the ball in the 39th minute. Ümit Karan fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 41st minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Maelgwn Le Bars having to interfere. 46 minutes into the match, Ni Jun Liang notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of Brugge United's Vítor Baia. Vítor Baia was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Brugge United made a substitution. Waud Huijbrechts replaced Jaspar Van Den Broeck. The Brugge United players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. En avant de guingamp were winning 1-3.

After 53 played minutes En avant de guingamp got a freekick which was hit by İnanç Kazanhan. Antônio Carlos Almeida came free with the goalkeeper in the 70th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Vítor Baia could save by the left post. After 88 minutes of play, Brugge United's Ümit Karan made it 3-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Maelgwn Le Bars was left in no man's land by his defense there! If Guido Vissenaeken had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 97th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead.
