Jimmy Björklund made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rıfat Başkaya in the 5th minute of play. 7 minutes into the game, Albert Offendahl was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Tunhems Idrottssällskap's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Galatasaray the free kick. Albert Offendahl hit a great freekick 7 minutes into the match. After a rather tough play, Tunhems Idrottssällskap's Albert Offendahl got a free kick in the 8th minute. After 8 played minutes Cihat Sönmez scored with a long sweeping shot just to the left of Jimmy Björklund who was too lazy, 1-0. Jens Wahlnäs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 12th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gazanfer Sayın having to interfere. In the 13th minute, Albert Offendahl hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Gazanfer Sayın made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Bo-Erik Wall in the 16th minute of play. In the 20th minute, Bo-Erik Wall made a precise shot to the right of Gazanfer Sayın. Galatasaray's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-1. 23 minutes into the game, Bo-Erik Wall cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-2. Gazanfer Sayın was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Galatasaray's Gazanfer Sayın played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bo-Erik Wall in the 28th minute of play. Galatasaray's Bayındır Mehmet Gökdoğan got a good chance for a goal in the 30th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Bayındır Mehmet Gökdoğan blasted a shot towards the goal in the 32nd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Jimmy Björklund having to make a save. In the 35th minute Jens Wahlnäs shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Gazanfer Sayın saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Tunhems Idrottssällskap's Jens Wahlnäs got a good chance for a goal in the 36th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gazanfer Sayın came out of the goal in the 39th minute to try and stop a shot by Tunhems Idrottssällskap's Timmy Ahlstedt. But to his dismay, Timmy Ahlstedt quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Gaffar Eyüpoğlu to make the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Gaffar Eyüpoğlu in the 51st minute of play forced Tunhems Idrottssällskap's goalkeeper Jimmy Björklund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 52 minutes into the game, Galatasaray's Çelikan Tümerdem nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jimmy Björklund made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-4. The supporters of Tunhems Idrottssällskap booed when Galatasaray was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 55 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rıfat Başkaya didn't get a good kick on the ball. Albert Offendahl hit a great freekick 58 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Barışcan İltemir in the 59th minute of play forced Tunhems Idrottssällskap's goalkeeper Jimmy Björklund to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. If Bo-Erik Wall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 68th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jens Wahlnäs fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gazanfer Sayın having to interfere. After some careless play in the Tunhems Idrottssällskap defense, Bayındır Mehmet Gökdoğan kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jimmy Björklund. The Tunhems Idrottssällskap fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jimmy Björklund should have stopped the shot. In the 76th minute Gaffar Eyüpoğlu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jimmy Björklund saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gaffar Eyüpoğlu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 77th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 79th match minute, Galatasaray was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Ertuğrul Rüştü to maneuver through the defense. If Bo-Erik Wall had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 82nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Galatasaray fans' excitement grew in the 85th match minute when Galatasaray's Bayındır Mehmet Gökdoğan looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 4-4 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Jens Wahlnäs received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 94th minute. Gazanfer Sayın tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The second half was just like the first, even and exciting. The match ended in a draw.
