Naike Abalos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Breno da Mata, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When Pompiliu Ciutacu came up free with the goalie in the 23rd minute, the Copetonas AFC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Pompiliu Ciutacu couldn't finish the play. Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Breno da Mata to make the kick off. The supporters of La Mandarina Mecánica booed when Copetonas AFC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Kostas Paxinos didn't get a good kick on the ball. Arnaldo Colas received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Marcelo Cordairo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After 55 minutes, Fjölnir Bergsson mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the La Mandarina Mecánica and the Copetonas AFC players grew even worse after the yellow card. A collision led to La Mandarina Mecánica getting a freekick after 55 minutes play. Fjölnir Bergsson hit a great ball. Marcelo Cordairo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Arnaldo Colas, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. In the 60th minute Pompiliu Ciutacu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Naike Abalos saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The La Mandarina Mecánica supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing La Mandarina Mecánica would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
