In the 20th minute, Florin Răducu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Léandre Hétu who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 21stth minute tested the skills of Emilian Bivolaru when he managed to save the team from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Valéry Lange in the 27th minute of play forced Croft 1's goalkeeper Emilian Bivolaru to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Florin Răducu might have been able to make a better finish in the 36th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Jan Sweet. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Croft 1's players were relieved. 40 minutes into the match, Croft 1's goal looked a bit too open when Ruben Weathers came free, but Emilian Bivolaru reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Léandre Hétu to make the kick off. After 54 played minutes Foothills United got a freekick which was hit by Eddy Bernier. Foothills United's Jan Sweet proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 55th minute of the match, managed to save Foothills United from getting a goal against them. 61 minutes into the match, Foothills United's goal looked a bit too open when Radu Frumușanu came free, but Jan Sweet reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. If Gabriel Condrea had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 65th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Emilian Bivolaru stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Léandre Hétu's shot from short distance in the 67th minute. After 74 played minutes Foothills United got a freekick which was hit by Hervé Sutton. The audience was convinced that Léandre Hétu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Emilian Bivolaru was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. If Radu Frumușanu had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 89th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a defensive mix-up in Croft 1's zone, Ruben Weathers stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Emilian Bivolaru came out of the goal and Ruben Weathers tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 95 minutes into the match, Foothills United's goalkeeper Jan Sweet had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Florin Răducu. The score was 0-0 after 90 minutes, which forced the match into extra-time.

After the break the players went out on the field to play the first half of overtime with revived energy in their legs. Croft 1's Florin Răducu started the play with the initial kick off. In the 100th minute Gabriel Condrea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jan Sweet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 102nd minute, Florin Răducu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jan Sweet was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1.
