After a defensive mix-up in Georgica's zone, Costin Tomoiu stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Manole Finteșteanu came out of the goal and Costin Tomoiu tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. After 4 played minutes Seminar CS got a freekick which was hit by Ovidiu Cimpoieru. Costin Tomoiu's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Manole Finteșteanu read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 9th minute of play. Daniel Piţurcă made an important save on a dangerous shot by Stelian Adomniței in the 12th minute. 13 minutes into the match, Seminar CS's goalkeeper Daniel Piţurcă had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Doru Hodorog. After 18 played minutes Seminar CS got a freekick which was hit by Codruț Găman. After some fancy dribbling in the 20th minute, Codruț Găman managed to get in a good position for a shot. Seminar CS's supporters rose to their feet, but Codruț Găman was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manole Finteșteanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Georgica defense, Costin Tomoiu kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Manole Finteșteanu. The Georgica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Manole Finteșteanu should have stopped the shot. Pavel Codreanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 25th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After some fancy dribbling in the 29th minute, Costin Tomoiu managed to get in a good position for a shot. Seminar CS's supporters rose to their feet, but Costin Tomoiu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Manole Finteșteanu breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. In the 33rd match minute, Seminar CS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Codruț Găman to maneuver through the defense. Daniel Piţurcă showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doru Hodorog, who was totally free with the ball in the 44th minute. Doru Hodorogs short, quick shot in the 48thth minute got Daniel Piţurcă to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Disappointed in the 0-1 score, the home team went to the dressing room to adjust tactics for the second half.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Costin Tomoiu to strike the kick off in the second half. In the 55th minute, Felix Morozan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manole Finteșteanu was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 58th match minute, Seminar CS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Codruț Găman to maneuver through the defense. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Daniel Piţurcă prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Manole Finteșteanu made a fantastic save in the 75th minute, when Codruț Găman sent off a good shot on target. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Doru Hodorog in the 79th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Daniel Piţurcă prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Daniel Piţurcă showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Doru Hodorog, who was totally free with the ball in the 81st minute. The Georgica manager could be seen shouting at his players as they walked down the tunnel after the match. He was clearly angry that they had squandered their superior possession, allowing Seminar CS to win.
