An unexpectedly hard shot by 莫鹰乐 in the 10th minute of play forced Samsunspor SK's goalkeeper Nusret Zeynur to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Özal Süvarioğlu charged in rather forcefully in the 11th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Özal Süvarioğlu the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Nusret Zeynur didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from 莫鹰乐 went, in the 13th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Samsunspor SK defense, 莫鹰乐 kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Nusret Zeynur. The Samsunspor SK fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Nusret Zeynur should have stopped the shot. Mehmet Hamdi İltekin recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 20th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. If Can Bucuk had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Cevahir Temel during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After 24 played minutes Samsunspor SK got a freekick which was hit by Cevahir Temel. Cevahir Temel was shown his second yellow card after 26 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. After the first half Bolton Wanderers were leading 1-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 莫鹰乐 in the 52nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Nusret Zeynur prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Bolton Wanderers's attentive 杨鸿谦 managed to snatch the ball when Orhan Veli Akoğlu made a throw-in in the 57th minute of the game. Nusret Zeynur made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 莫鹰乐 in the 58th minute of play. 莫鹰乐 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 59th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. The crowd rose to their feet as 莫鹰乐 kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Nusret Zeynur. That made the score 1-4 in the 68 minute of play. 莫鹰乐 didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 1-5 via right post in the game's 72nd minute. Bolton Wanderers's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! 范平竞 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 75th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Bolton Wanderers eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
