A collision led to Berserkers FC Ψ getting a freekick after 8 minutes play. Severino Blanco hit a great ball. In the 13th minute the ball was on its way in behind Dep Colonia Avellaneda's goalkeeper Victoriano Bernaldo, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Juan-Ramón Verón recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 16th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Victoriano Bernaldo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juan-Ramón Verón, who was totally free with the ball in the 19th minute. In the 23rd minute, Juan-Ramón Verón ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Victoriano Bernaldo was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-0. Juan-Ramón Verón could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 34th minute of the match, but Victoriano Bernaldo made a huge save. 38 minutes into the match, Juan-Ramón Verón had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Victoriano Bernaldo. Dep Colonia Avellaneda's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Juan-Ramón Verón was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-0. Victoriano Bernaldo made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juan-Ramón Verón in the 40th minute of play. Severino Blanco made in the 42nd minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Juan-Ramón Verón however managed to control. Dep Colonia Avellaneda's Victoriano Bernaldo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Juan-Ramón Verón in the 48th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Juan-Ramón Verón stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Victoriano Bernaldo was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. When Pascual Lesardo fell near the penalty area in the 85th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Dep Colonia Avellaneda's protests and gave Pascual Lesardo a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Dep Colonia Avellaneda's Pascual Lesardo got a free kick in the 85th minute. Alexander Bottone sent away a hard shot on goal in the 86th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The corner ended in Merih Güdeş almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Dep Colonia Avellaneda's Victoriano Bernaldo did a great save.
