The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Tomás Baldaia came free with the goalkeeper in the 3rd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Luisito Quinten could save by the left post. In the 5th minute of the game Victor Van Lueven made a throw-in which Alexandre Van Beneden played forward. 7 minutes into the match, Lyons's Boleslaw Zielinski sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Kajetan Dawiec narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Pierre-Paul Van Dijck made in the 10th minute of the game a sloppy throw-in which Alexandre Van Beneden however managed to control. After some careless play in the Ad Fundum defense, Boleslaw Zielinski kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Kajetan Dawiec. The Ad Fundum fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Kajetan Dawiec should have stopped the shot. In the 20th minute, Boleslaw Zielinski got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Boleslaw Zielinski sent away a hard shot on goal in the 23rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After 25 minutes of play, Lyons's Boleslaw Zielinski made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Kajetan Dawiec was left in no man's land by his defense there! Through an outstanding action, after 29 minutes, Luisito Quinten successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. The supporters of Lyons booed when Ad Fundum was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 30 match minutes in a wonderful position. Pierre-Paul Van Dijck didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 35th minute Aurel Cornea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luisito Quinten saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Pierre-Paul Van Dijck charged in rather forcefully in the 42nd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Pierre-Paul Van Dijck the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. After a rather tough play, Ad Fundum's Pierre-Paul Van Dijck got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Boleslaw Zielinski recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 46th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal.

The wind increased when Boleslaw Zielinski made the kick off in the second half. In the 53rd minute Ad Fundum were awarded a corner. Manfred Bruse went to the cornerflag to take it. After some fancy dribbling in the 55th minute, Boleslaw Zielinski managed to get in a good position for a shot. Lyons's supporters rose to their feet, but Boleslaw Zielinski was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Kajetan Dawiec breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Kajetan Dawiec made an important save on a dangerous shot by Boleslaw Zielinski in the 57th minute. Kajetan Dawiec took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Boleslaw Zielinski, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tran Vrolijcx in the 62nd minute of play forced Lyons's goalkeeper Luisito Quinten to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 70 minutes into the match, Ad Fundum's Jordi Paschiers sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Luisito Quinten narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Lyons's attentive Severo Basualdo managed to snatch the ball when Alexandre Van Beneden made a throw-in in the 79th minute of the game. The audience was convinced that Jordi Paschiers's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Luisito Quinten was relentless in the 81st minute of the game. In the 85th minute, Dariusz Roano ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Kajetan Dawiec was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-5. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dariusz Roano in the 90th minute of play forced Ad Fundum's goalkeeper Kajetan Dawiec to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The Lyons supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Lyons would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
