If Rene Rostholm had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 6th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 6 minutes into the match, Sporting Cristal's goal looked a bit too open when Rene Rostholm came free, but Jon Iruegas reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 13th minute, Rene Rostholm got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Radim Gola's late challenge caught a Sporting Cristal's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Radim Gola helped the player get up and apologised. Radim Gola hit a great freekick 14 minutes into the match. Nichlas Vesterdahl stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Fernanco Peso's shot from short distance in the 17th minute. Jon Iruegas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Rene Rostholm, who was totally free with the ball in the 23rd minute. After having played for 26 minutes, Fernanco Peso managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Nichlas Vesterdahl showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fernanco Peso, who was totally free with the ball in the 38th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Rene Rostholm to strike the kick off in the second half. Nichlas Vesterdahl took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fernanco Peso, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Sporting Cristal's Frank Tassotti was substituted for Claudinei Suarbol. Sal Grandoso hit a great freekick 66 minutes into the match. 72 minutes into the match, Fernanco Peso had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nichlas Vesterdahl. Randers A.F.C.'s manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fernanco Peso was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-0. In the 76thth minute of the game Nik Frisendal who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sporting Cristal's Jon Iruegas was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Randers A.F.C.'s Bruno Steenbeck was substituted for Rene Rostholm. An unexpectedly hard shot by Arthur Shelby in the 84th minute of play forced Sporting Cristal's goalkeeper Jon Iruegas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 93rd minute, Ronaldão Nogueira got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The referee's whistle sounded for the end of the second half. The match was tied at 1-1. None of the players looked happy at the prospect of extra-time.

After the break the players went out on the field to play the first half of overtime with revived energy in their legs. Sporting Cristal's Christian Luciano started the play with the initial kick off. 100 minutes into the game, Christian Luciano cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Nichlas Vesterdahl was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Sporting Cristal fans cheered their team off the field, for while Randers A.F.C. had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
