Mohieddine Ayari started the match with the kick off. Jiang Lei came out of the goal in the 4th minute to try and stop a shot by Grêmio FBPA's Filiph Biörling. But to his dismay, Filiph Biörling quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 11 minutes in the game Barto Crespo did a throw-in, and the ball was quickly in game thanks to Mohieddine Ayari. Jiang Lei took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Pipis Karapatakis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Jiang Lei made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Pipis Karapatakis in the 31st minute of play. A collision led to Grêmio FBPA getting a freekick after 33 minutes play. Alberto Estevon hit a great ball. Jiang Lei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Pipis Karapatakis in the 35th minute of the match. When Eusebiu Cimpoi fell near the penalty area in the 39th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored CERRO PORTEÑO's protests and gave Eusebiu Cimpoi a yellow card for diving instead. Eusebiu Cimpoi hit a great freekick 39 minutes into the match. In the 40thth minute of the game Pipis Karapatakis who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CERRO PORTEÑO's Jiang Lei was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball.

The wind increased when Pipis Karapatakis made the kick off in the second half. After some fancy dribbling in the 54th minute, Mohieddine Ayari managed to get in a good position for a shot. CERRO PORTEÑO's supporters rose to their feet, but Mohieddine Ayari was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jardel Sanches breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Jiang Lei made a fantastic save in the 60th minute, when Pipis Karapatakis sent off a good shot on target. Jardel Sanches made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mohieddine Ayari in the 67th minute of play. The audience thought a goal was coming when Pipis Karapatakis got free with Jiang Lei in the 71st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 84th minute the ball was on its way in behind CERRO PORTEÑO's goalkeeper Jiang Lei, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 85 played minutes CERRO PORTEÑO got a freekick which was hit by Barto Crespo. The audience thought a goal was coming when Eriberto Berger got free with Jiang Lei in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 94th minute Grêmio FBPA were awarded a corner. Darío Pereyra went to the cornerflag to take it. Both teams had looked equal from kick-off, and no-one was surprised when the match finally ended in a draw.
