In the 45th match minute, Palestra do Interior was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Percival Cruz to maneuver through the defense. Ernani Velasco hit a great freekick 46 minutes into the match. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Mohieddine Ayari made the kick off in the second half. In the 57th minute, Romário Barbosa made a precise shot to the right of Jiang Lei. CERRO PORTEÑO's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-4. Jiang Lei showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from 韩默克 in the 60th minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Romário Barbosa in the 61st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Jiang Lei saved CERRO PORTEÑO from getting behind. Palestra do Interior's Niclas Danielsson was substituted for 韩默克. In the 65th minute of the match Palestra do Interior got a corner. CERRO PORTEÑO's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Niclas Danielsson ran over to the corner to take the kick. A nice corner shot did that Lapurdi Jaramillo got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Jiang Lei quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Mohieddine Ayari in the 67th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Allan Varela prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Palestra do Interior's Allan Varela played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 王树帆 in the 73rd minute of play. When 王树帆, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 74 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Allan Varela was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Percival Cruz hit a great freekick 76 minutes into the match. A sloppy throw-in by Edward Spets in the 81st minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Palestra do Interior's Boyisana Mnisi. In the 83rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Palestra do Interior's goalkeeper Allan Varela, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. CERRO PORTEÑO's Jiang Lei proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 88th minute of the match, managed to save CERRO PORTEÑO from getting a goal against them. 92 minutes into the match, CERRO PORTEÑO's goal looked a bit too open when Vitório Lago came free, but Jiang Lei reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Palestra do Interior booed when CERRO PORTEÑO was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Moreno Martins didn't get a good kick on the ball. Vitório Lago received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 93rd minute. Jiang Lei tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Palestra do Interior's Vitório Lago was standing unmarked in front of the goal when he, in the 96th play minute, got the ball and easily drilled it into the goal.
