After 37 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Gremio Viana! Gremio Viana:s Samuel Fiúza showed great skill when he stopped Unai Calatayud:s penalty. Despite close surveillance by the defense, Unai Calatayud managed to send off a shot that put the ball into the goal to the left of a disappointed goalkeeper. 4-0 in the 39th minute. If Jiang De had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 47th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 4-0.

Tartalo Rajoi might have been able to make a better finish in the 54th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Samuel Fiúza. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. When Unai Calatayud came up free with the goalie in the 56th minute, the Atlético Ourense fans jumped to their feet. In the 67th minute Carlos Luna shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jerrold Valcarcel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Severino Torcato charged in rather forcefully in the 69th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The Atlético Ourense players were eager to celebrate when the final whistle sounded. They had somehow managed to win, even though the away team had held the majority of the possession.
