Sven-Olof Lilja made a great header on SSV Ulm 1846's corner, it was just that FC LIVERPOOL's Tommy Thompson managed to reach the ball for a save. When Dennis Bergkamp came up free with the goalie in the 12th minute, the FC LIVERPOOL fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Dennis Bergkamp couldn't finish the play. When Robustiano Diaz fell near the penalty area in the 16th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC LIVERPOOL's protests and gave Robustiano Diaz a yellow card for diving instead. In the 16th minute, Robustiano Diaz hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tommy Thompson showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Don Merlot, who was totally free with the ball in the 17th minute. Niclas Monschke could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Tommy Thompson made a huge save. Niclas Monschke's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Tommy Thompson read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 27th minute of play. In the 28th minute of the match SSV Ulm 1846 got a corner. FC LIVERPOOL's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Sven-Olof Lilja ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led SSV Ulm 1846's Sven-Olof Lilja to fire away a dangerous shot which Tommy Thompson despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Kryspin Cupial showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Dennis Bergkamp, who was totally free with the ball in the 32nd minute. SSV Ulm 1846's Kryspin Cupial played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dennis Bergkamp in the 32nd minute of play. Kryspin Cupial made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Dennis Bergkamp in the 33rd minute of play. Kryspin Cupial took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dennis Bergkamp, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Dennis Bergkamp made a kick off. In the 57th minute, FC LIVERPOOL's Rio Dunn ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Kryspin Cupial. Kryspin Cupial yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 1-1. SSV Ulm 1846's Kryspin Cupial played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Rio Dunn in the 63rd minute of play. Tommy Thompson took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Don Merlot, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Don Merlot in the 69th minute of play forced FC LIVERPOOL's goalkeeper Tommy Thompson to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 72 minutes into the match, SSV Ulm 1846's goalkeeper Kryspin Cupial had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dennis Bergkamp. The throw-in from Afonso Silveira in the 80th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by FC LIVERPOOL's 徐海枫. FC LIVERPOOL's Tommy Thompson played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Niclas Monschke in the 83rd minute of play. A sloppy throw-in by Afonso Silveira in the 87th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by FC LIVERPOOL's 徐海枫. In the 96th minute Niclas Monschke shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tommy Thompson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Albrecht Bosbach struck a weak shot in the 100th minute. Tommy Thompson didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SSV Ulm 1846. Despite being the better team, FC LIVERPOOL failed to find the winning goal and were forced to settle for a single point.
