Dobromir Zagrodny was slow to take the kick. During this time Jovens Democratas MZC's players had a chance to rest. Academia Militar MZ's Diamantino Magalhães played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Xu Li Sang in the 18th minute of play. In the 21st minute the ball was on its way in behind Academia Militar MZ's goalkeeper Diamantino Magalhães, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 25th minute, Dobromir Zagrodny reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Diamantino Magalhães. The goal made the score 1-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Durval de Queirós got free with Diamantino Magalhães in the 28th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Manoel Neuer showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from André Luís Leite in the 30th minute of the match. Diamantino Magalhães stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Xu Li Sang's shot from short distance in the 37th minute. Diamantino Magalhães took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dobromir Zagrodny, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Carlinhos Tróia sent away a hard shot on goal in the 47th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

In the 85th minute Arí Pitta suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. In the 87th match minute, Jovens Democratas MZC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Elano Loureiro to maneuver through the defense. Diamantino Magalhães made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Ruy de Brito in the 90th minute of play.
