In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sport Club Mavericks's goalkeeper Manoel Peixoto, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 12 minutes into the game, Ong Mathews was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sport Club Mavericks's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Wellington Phoenix the free kick. In the 12th minute, Ong Mathews hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 17th minute Armando Guerreiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Paulo Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When 詹俊 á Bø came up free with the goalie in the 20th minute, the Wellington Phoenix fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that 詹俊 á Bø couldn't finish the play. When Arturo Filippini fell near the penalty area in the 24th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Sport Club Mavericks's protests and gave Arturo Filippini a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Sport Club Mavericks's Arturo Filippini got a free kick in the 24th minute. In the 26th minute Armando Guerreiro shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Luiz Paulo Mazza saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ong Mathews kicked well hit freekick during the 30th minute of the match. In the 31st minute Sven Herling suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. 詹俊 á Bø charged in rather forcefully in the 31st minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed 詹俊 á Bø the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. 詹俊 á Bø kicked well hit freekick during the 33rd minute of the match. Ong Mathews got his second yellow card in the match during the 41st minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. After 41 played minutes Sport Club Mavericks got a freekick which was hit by Ong Mathews. Manoel Peixoto made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 詹俊 á Bø in the 43rd minute of play. 45 minutes into the game, Wellington Phoenix's Wellington Phoenix nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Manoel Peixoto made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-0. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 2-0 at half-time.

The corner led Sport Club Mavericks's Arturo Filippini to fire away a dangerous shot which Luiz Paulo Mazza despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. 64 minutes into the match, Wellington Phoenix's goal looked a bit too open when Armando Guerreiro came free, but Luiz Paulo Mazza reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 67 minutes into the match, 詹俊 á Bø notched a goal, 4-0, to the right of Sport Club Mavericks's Manoel Peixoto. Manoel Peixoto was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Wellington Phoenix's Murillo Rodrigues was substituted for Sandro Trigo. Armando Guerreiro kicked well hit freekick during the 72nd minute of the match. 詹俊 á Bø scored 5-0 in the 74th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Manoel Peixoto, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 77 played minutes Sport Club Mavericks got a freekick which was hit by Honorio Efraim. Manoel Peixoto took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 詹俊 á Bø, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81st minute Wellington Phoenix shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manoel Peixoto saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 83rd minute, 詹俊 á Bø ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Manoel Peixoto was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. 86 minutes in the game, Armando Guerreiro fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Luiz Paulo Mazza having to interfere. Armando Guerreiro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 89th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Horácio Pedroso hit a great freekick 95 minutes into the match. Wellington Phoenix's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
