Club Atletico Talleres's Ciro Gombal played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Árpád Markó in the 14th minute of play. 17 minutes into the match, Lee Staratschek notched a goal, 1-0, to the right of Estudiantes de la Plata's Angel Fonso. Angel Fonso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Rolf Ruff in the 93rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ciro Gombal saved Club Atletico Talleres from getting behind. The corner led Club Atletico Talleres's John Gallagher to fire away a dangerous shot which Angel Fonso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball.
