When the match clock showed 3 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Hector Jerardo sped through Depor Alex Return's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Federico Checa. Federico Checa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodosio Ascencio in the 11th minute of play. Armando Baraquiel struck a weak shot in the 14th minute. Yuriy Babushkin didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Depor Alex Return. 16 minutes into the match, Depor Alex Return's goal looked a bit too open when Rene Pierres came free, but Federico Checa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 17 minutes into the game, German Erruki was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Depor Alex Return's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Deportivo Messina the free kick. After 17 played minutes Depor Alex Return got a freekick which was hit by German Erruki. After 18 played minutes, Deportivo Messina's Salvador Iztal shot from a long distance, and at first it looked like the ball was going into the goal, but the goalkeeper Federico Checa came through and got his fingers on the ball before it flew over the goal line. He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Deportivo Messina reached it. Randle Barry kicked well hit freekick during the 19th minute of the match. Federico Checa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rene Pierres, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 24th minute the ball was on its way in behind Deportivo Messina's goalkeeper Yuriy Babushkin, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Domingo Jakue scored 0-3 in the 28th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Federico Checa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 31 played minutes Deportivo Messina got a freekick which was hit by Gabriel Bizen. The audience thought a goal was coming when Felipe Indalecio got free with Yuriy Babushkin in the 31st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Federico Checa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Teodosio Ascencio in the 33rd minute of play. In the 34th minute Teodosio Ascencio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Federico Checa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Deportivo Messina's Hector Jerardo in the 38th minute got a chance for a shot 38th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. Depor Alex Return were awarded a corner in the 41th minute after Deportivo Messina's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Felipe Indalecio took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Felipe Indalecio got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Yuriy Babushkin quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. After a rather tough play, Depor Alex Return's Tomas Santo got a free kick in the 46th minute. Federico Checa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Teodosio Ascencio in the 48th minute of the match. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-3 lead.

Deportivo Messina's Gervasio Larra was substituted for Salvador Iztal. Deportivo Messina made a substitution. Luis Cordario replaced Rene Pierres. Domingo Jakue hit a great freekick 55 minutes into the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Armando Baraquiel in the 56th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Yuriy Babushkin saved Deportivo Messina from getting behind. 58 minutes had been played when some careless play by Deportivo Messina's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Felipe Indalecio was slow to take the kick. During this time Depor Alex Return's players had a chance to rest. Federico Checa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alvaro Perfecto in the 60th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Depor Alex Return's German Erruki got a free kick in the 67th minute. With a little luck, Depor Alex Return's Federico Checa got control of the ball when Alvaro Perfecto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Hector Jerardo in the 70thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Federico Checa, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Federico Checa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luis Cordario in the 73rd minute. In the 80th minute, Siro Lia hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Felipe Indalecio recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 81st minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. With a little luck, Depor Alex Return's Federico Checa got control of the ball when Alvaro Perfecto tried to sneak it across the goal line. Federico Checa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hector Jerardo in the 85th minute. The supporters of Deportivo Messina booed when Depor Alex Return was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 91 match minutes in a wonderful position. Teobald Pacholewski didn't get a good kick on the ball. Federico Checa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Luis Cordario, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Deportivo Messina's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
