The crowd rose to their feet as Sutura's Bartolo Paublo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Serafino Jurdan. That made the score 1-0 after 5 minutes of play. In the 9th minute, Agustin Elorri hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. If Cristian Blanco had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 12th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some fancy dribbling in the 14th minute, Silverio Tuste managed to get in a good position for a shot. Newells Old Boys's supporters rose to their feet, but Silverio Tuste was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Rolando Sanchez breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. An unexpectedly hard shot by Silverio Tuste in the 17th minute of play forced Sutura's goalkeeper Rolando Sanchez to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute Newells Old Boys were awarded a corner. Elias Medeiros went to the cornerflag to take it. A nice corner shot did that Elias Medeiros got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Rolando Sanchez quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. 23 minutes into the match, Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Serafino Jurdan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Abel Gonza. Rolando Sanchez came out of the goal in the 26th minute to try and stop a shot by Newells Old Boys's Silverio Tuste. But to his dismay, Silverio Tuste quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. If Abel Gonza had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 33rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Sutura's goalkeeper Rolando Sanchez, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. When the match had gone on for 38 minutes, Silverio Tuste put it in 1-3 from a short distance just to the right of Rolando Sanchez. In the 40th minute, one of Sutura:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Sutura. Sutura:s Rolando Sanchez showed great skill when he stopped Silverio Tuste:s penalty. Silverio Tuste might have been able to make a better finish in the 45th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rolando Sanchez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silverio Tuste ran back to his position shaking his head. Rolando Sanchez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silverio Tuste, who was totally free with the ball in the 45th minute. Rolando Sanchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silverio Tuste in the 46th minute of play. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 1-3.

The wind increased when Bartolo Paublo made the kick off in the second half. If Silverio Tuste had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. 58 minutes into the match, Sutura's goal looked a bit too open when Silverio Tuste came free, but Rolando Sanchez reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 65th minute of the match, Silverio Tuste tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Rolando Sanchez saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Agustin Elorri in the 70th minute of play forced Newells Old Boys's goalkeeper Serafino Jurdan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Serafino Jurdan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from 傅政克, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 73rdth minute of the game Abel Gonza who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Newells Old Boys's Serafino Jurdan was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Silverio Tuste might have been able to make a better finish in the 75th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Rolando Sanchez. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Silverio Tuste ran back to his position shaking his head. Rolando Sanchez made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Silverio Tuste in the 75th minute of play. Rolando Sanchez showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Silverio Tuste, who was totally free with the ball in the 76th minute. When the final whistle went the supporters of Newells Old Boys were delighted that their team had defeated the much more dominant Sutura side.
