An unexpectedly hard shot by Heleno de Freitas in the 14th minute of play forced Dr Lecter SC's goalkeeper Cosme Pere to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Dr Lecter SC's Omid Kaulbach got a good chance for a goal in the 15th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. In the 18th minute of the match Edson Futebol Clube got a corner. Dr Lecter SC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Edson Futebol Clube's Tao Xing Yong was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Cosme Pere in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Corneliu Dridu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 19th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 21st minute Heleno de Freitas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cosme Pere saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 22 minutes into the match, Dr Lecter SC's goal looked a bit too open when Heleno de Freitas came free, but Cosme Pere reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 29 minutes of play, Edson Futebol Clube's Ernesto Fontes made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Cosme Pere was left in no man's land by his defense there! After 35 minutes Edson Futebol Clube's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Omid Kaulbach who took care of the corner kick. Cosme Pere showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Heleno de Freitas in the 38th minute of the match.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Heleno de Freitas to make the kick off. With his leg Cosme Pere managed to avoid a goal in the 51stth minute, when Edson Futebol Clube's Ernesto Fontes fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. Cosme Pere showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Heleno de Freitas, who was totally free with the ball in the 79th minute. The nice shot from Ernesto Fontes in the 81stth minute just in front of the goal should have ended in point on the board, but Cosme Pere had a great feel for the game and superbly saved the ball from getting in by the left post. Edson Futebol Clube made a substitution. Roger Milla replaced Tuncay Şanlı. Edson Futebol Clube were awarded a corner in the 83th minute after Dr Lecter SC's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Tao Xing Yong took the corner. After a rather tough play, Dr Lecter SC's Laércio Guedes got a free kick in the 87th minute. The long shot by Panos Karkantos in the 87th minute really tested Cosme Pere's skills. The ball was on its way into the goal to the left of him when he managed to stretch himself and save the shot and avoid a goal. In the 89th minute Laércio Guedes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Paul Christini saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 90 played minutes Edson Futebol Clube got a freekick which was hit by Panos Karkantos. Cosme Pere showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ernesto Fontes in the 93rd minute of the match. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Edson Futebol Clube eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
