Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Laércio Penha ran back to his position shaking his head. 3 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goal looked a bit too open when Laércio Penha came free, but Aurelio Walme reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Mickaël Maris made a fantastic save in the 4th minute, when Renato Augusto sent off a good shot on target. After 7 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Nery Dominguez. Laércio Penha sent away a hard shot on goal in the 10th minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. Aurelio Walme showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Laércio Penha, who was totally free with the ball in the 10th minute. When Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Laércio Penha in the 12th minute got a chance for a shot 12th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye S.E.R. Aurelio Walme made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Andrézinho Vaz in the 35th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Laércio Penha in the 36th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Aurelio Walme prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nova Iguaçu MZFC's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Tomás Mazza in the 37th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Dávid Blažek in the 44th minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Nova Iguaçu MZFC's Tomás Mazza. A collision led to Nova Iguaçu MZFC getting a freekick after 48 minutes play. Tomás Mazza hit a great ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Geovani Medeiros was the one to do the kick off. Mickaël Maris showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Breno Vergílio, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. After a rather tough play, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's Breno Vergílio got a free kick in the 60th minute. Manfredo Vale's late challenge caught a S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Manfredo Vale helped the player get up and apologised. In the 75th minute, Manfredo Vale hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Laércio Penha received a nice pass, split the defenders, and ran untouched towards the goal. Aurelio Walme came out and tried to block the shot, but Laércio Penha slotted it home off the left post making it 0-2 in the 79th minute. After 83 played minutes Nova Iguaçu MZFC got a freekick which was hit by Carolo Cambranes. After some careless play in the Nova Iguaçu MZFC defense, Geovani Medeiros kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Mickaël Maris. The Nova Iguaçu MZFC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Mickaël Maris should have stopped the shot. 88 minutes into the match, S.E.R. Caxias do Sul's goalkeeper Aurelio Walme had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Laércio Penha. Mickaël Maris made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Breno Vergílio in the 95th minute of play.
