Rovine Craiova's Dorin Arșanu proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 3rd minute of the match, managed to save Rovine Craiova from getting a goal against them. When Gelu Coman fell near the penalty area in the 3rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored FC Oltul Slatina's protests and gave Gelu Coman a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, FC Oltul Slatina's Gelu Coman got a free kick in the 3rd minute. 6 minutes into the match, FC Oltul Slatina's goal looked a bit too open when Jyrki Saarelainen came free, but Manuel Lovinescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Manuel Lovinescu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jyrki Saarelainen in the 15th minute of play. In the 16th minute of the match, Gaudencio Ubarna tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Dorin Arșanu saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Dorin Arșanu showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gaudencio Ubarna, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. In the 21st minute Basarab Teleagă shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Lovinescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Marcu Vârjean had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. When the match clock showed 26 minutes, the score became 0-1 when Jyrki Saarelainen sped through FC Oltul Slatina's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Manuel Lovinescu. The audience thought a goal was coming when Iurie Avacariței got free with Dorin Arșanu in the 29th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 31 minutes into the match, FC Oltul Slatina's goal looked a bit too open when Jyrki Saarelainen came free, but Manuel Lovinescu reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rovine Craiova's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Alexandru Tudorică in the 32nd minute. A well-hit corner resulted in Flavius Simionescu heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. Dorin Arșanu showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Gelu Coman in the 38th minute of the match. Dorin Arșanu was a little too slow when Iurie Avacariței got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 41st minute. The score was now 1-1. Basarab Teleagă hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. FC Oltul Slatina's Iurie Avacariței got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Marcel Turcescu in the 46th minute of play forced FC Oltul Slatina's goalkeeper Manuel Lovinescu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Gelu Coman hit a great freekick 47 minutes into the match. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Jyrki Saarelainen made a kick off. Dorin Arșanu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Iurie Avacariței, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. If Basarab Teleagă had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 53rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jyrki Saarelainens short, quick shot in the 56thth minute got Manuel Lovinescu to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Manuel Lovinescu was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Alexandru Tudorică showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-2 in the 72 minute of play. In the 75th minute Alexandru Tudorică shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Manuel Lovinescu saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 77th match minute, Rovine Craiova was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alexandru Tudorică to maneuver through the defense. In the 78th minute, Alexandru Tudorică hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Rovine Craiova's Flavius Simionescu got a free kick in the 79th minute. In the 86th minute, Alexandru Tudorică got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Jyrki Saarelainen's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 88thth minute, Manuel Lovinescu skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal. After 90 played minutes FC Oltul Slatina got a freekick which was hit by Iurie Avacariței. FC Oltul Slatina's Manuel Lovinescu played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jyrki Saarelainen in the 94th minute of play. The referee blew the final whistle, and the away crowd roared, having watched Rovine Craiova eke out a victory against a very well matched opponent.
