Spectators: 152 (Terracing: 114, Seating: 35, VIP seats: 3) Phoenix Strikers's Emanuel Mascovescu started the match with a crisp pass. The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 11th minute Ionuț Romeo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Eduardo Pereyra saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Olimpiu Mustea took the ball and in the 13 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Eduardo Pereyra. Eduardo Pereyra dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-1. 16 minutes into the match, Traian Moldovan notched a goal, 0-2, to the right of New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra. Eduardo Pereyra was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. An unexpectedly hard shot by George Schiau in the 24th minute of play forced Phoenix Strikers's goalkeeper Ionel Panaitoiu to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. George Schiau could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Ionel Panaitoiu made a huge save. Emanuel Mascovescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 36th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 39 minutes into the match, Traian Moldovan notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of New York Red Bulls's Eduardo Pereyra. Eduardo Pereyra was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After the first half Phoenix Strikers were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Marian Balint stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The audience thought a goal was coming when Traian Moldovan got free with Eduardo Pereyra in the 51st minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, Phoenix Strikers's Laurențiu Stelaru got a free kick in the 54th minute. Eduardo Pereyra made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristinel Eftimiu in the 57th minute of play. Eduardo Pereyra had great luck who in the 60thth minute grab hold of the ball when Emanuel Mascovescu from a short distance tried to put the ball inside the right post. When the match had gone on for 64 minutes, Emanuel Mascovescu took a quick shot and it went in 0-4 without a chance for Eduardo Pereyra to make any attempt to save it. In the 67th minute, Traian Tatomir got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Ionel Panaitoiu made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Traian Tatomir in the 71st minute of play. Maxim Necșulescu was astounded when the referee showed him the red card after a seemingly innocent challenge, 74 minutes into the match. In the 75th minute, Maxim Necșulescu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After 77 minutes of play, Phoenix Strikers's Eric Aanuţei made it 0-5 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Eduardo Pereyra was left in no man's land by his defense there! The supporters of Phoenix Strikers booed when New York Red Bulls was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 87 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cristinel Alamaru didn't get a good kick on the ball. The New York Red Bulls supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Phoenix Strikers's performance. The match ended with a win for Phoenix Strikers.
