The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Horea Vulcănescu recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 4 minutes into the match, G A I S's goal looked a bit too open when Sten Melberg came free, but Staffan Eckegren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Sixten Ekström fell near the penalty area in the 7th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored G A I S's protests and gave Sixten Ekström a yellow card for diving instead. Sixten Ekström kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. In the 8thth minute of the game Sten Melberg who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but G A I S's Staffan Eckegren was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Staffan Eckegren didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Sten Melberg went, in the 12th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-1 was the resulting score. An unexpectedly hard shot by Sten Melberg in the 16th minute of play forced G A I S's goalkeeper Staffan Eckegren to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 18th minute Di Röe were awarded a corner. Herman Benett went to the cornerflag to take it. Sixten Ekström made in the 21st minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Horea Vulcănescu. In the 25th minute, Horea Vulcănescu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The G A I S fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 1-1. After 28 minutes of play, Di Röe's Sten Melberg made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Staffan Eckegren was left in no man's land by his defense there! 32 minutes into the match, Di Röe's goalkeeper George Kristiansson had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by John Jernberg. Sten Melberg scored 1-3 in the 35th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Staffan Eckegren, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. After 39 played minutes Di Röe got a freekick which was hit by Conny Bjursell. Cléber Marinho took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 39th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for George Kristiansson. Di Röe's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. When Sixten Ekström was, once again, overly rough in his play he received his second yellow card and was ordered off the ground. 40 minutes had been played. In the 41st match minute, G A I S was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sixten Ekström to maneuver through the defense. 47 minutes into the match, G A I S's goal looked a bit too open when Sten Melberg came free, but Staffan Eckegren reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-3 lead.

Staffan Eckegren made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sten Melberg in the 51st minute of play. 63 minutes into the match, Sten Melberg dribbled the ball past the defender and swiftly kicked the ball to the left of Staffan Eckegren, 1-5. Di Röe's Ivan Drake was substituted for Edu Loss. Di Röe's Romeo Gologan was substituted for Sten Melberg. Herman Benett's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Staffan Eckegren read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 69th minute of play. The supporters of G A I S booed when Di Röe was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 69 match minutes in a wonderful position. Bedih Rafet didn't get a good kick on the ball. In the 78th minute Herman Benett shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Staffan Eckegren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Staffan Eckegren took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Romeo Gologan, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ivan Drake could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 80th minute of the match, but Staffan Eckegren made a huge save. A collision led to G A I S getting a freekick after 86 minutes play. Ty Scholes hit a great ball. In the 86th minute of the match, Romeo Gologan tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Staffan Eckegren saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. Di Röe were awarded a corner in the 88th minute after G A I S's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Herman Benett took the corner. The corner ended in Herman Benett almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but G A I S's Staffan Eckegren did a great save. In the 91st minute Norman Mabalane shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but George Kristiansson saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 93 minutes into the match, Arne Stensson notched a goal, 2-5, to the right of Di Röe's George Kristiansson. George Kristiansson was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The G A I S supporters were disappointed that their team didn't take anything from the match, despite matching Di Röe's performance. The match ended with a win for Di Röe.
