The supporters of CDU Católica booed when Esmeraldas S.C. was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 4 match minutes in a wonderful position. Willy Reynolds didn't get a good kick on the ball. Aguinaga Nebot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tauro Fontecilla, who was totally free with the ball in the 7th minute. 7 minutes into the match, Esmeraldas S.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Tauro Fontecilla came free, but Aguinaga Nebot reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Salamón Del Fierro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Martinez Cines in the 9th minute of play. Willy Reynolds sent away a hard shot on goal in the 18th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Willy Reynolds in the 20th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Salamón Del Fierro prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 20 minutes into the game, Willy Reynolds lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated Salamón Del Fierro. Salamón Del Fierro stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Damian Maftei's shot from short distance in the 26th minute. In the 26thth minute of the game Damian Maftei who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but CDU Católica's Salamón Del Fierro was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The Esmeraldas S.C. fans' excitement grew in the 26th match minute when Esmeraldas S.C.'s Damian Maftei looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 2-0 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Salamón Del Fierro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Willy Reynolds, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Esmeraldas S.C.'s Aguinaga Nebot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristóbal Lataste in the 37th minute of play. When the match had gone on for 39 minutes, Willy Reynolds put it in 3-0 from a short distance just to the right of Salamón Del Fierro. Salamón Del Fierro made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damian Maftei in the 42nd minute of play. In the 44th minute Damian Maftei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Salamón Del Fierro saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 45 minutes had been played when some careless play by CDU Católica's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Stefanos Terzopoulos was slow to take the kick. During this time Esmeraldas S.C.'s players had a chance to rest. In the 48th minute of the match, Willy Reynolds tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Salamón Del Fierro saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 3-0 at half-time.

Salamón Del Fierro didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Willy Reynolds went, in the 76th minute, to the upper right corner, 4-0 was the resulting score.
