GuateFortín's Nery Pumpido hadn't the time to block the shot which was pasted into the goal, 1-0! When GuateFortín's Sven-Edvin Jansson in the 17th minute got a chance for a shot 17th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Esmeraldas S.C.'s goalie prevented a goal. Esmeraldas S.C.'s Aguinaga Nebot played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zico Zellier in the 20th minute of play. After 26 minutes GuateFortín's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Stefanos Terzopoulos who took care of the corner kick. Aguinaga Nebot took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Stanyo Búnkov, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 31 minutes, Stanyo Búnkov made it 2-1 with a short kick to the right side. Esmeraldas S.C.'s Aguinaga Nebot tried to save the shot but he was too slow in reacting to the shot. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Sven-Edvin Jansson stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Through an outstanding action, after 52 minutes, Aguinaga Nebot successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. GuateFortín's Elias Pagomari was substituted for Thierry Henry. After 62 played minutes Esmeraldas S.C. got a freekick which was hit by Simon Caicedo. In the 87th minute Damian Maftei shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nery Pumpido saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nery Pumpido made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Damian Maftei in the 90th minute of play. Aguinaga Nebot showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Zico Zellier, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Despite this Aguinaga Nebot quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. When the referee ended the match the Esmeraldas S.C. players were able to celebrate. They had won a fair victory and recieved the ovations of their fans.
