FC Grivata's supporters crossed their fingers, but Trendafil Tashevski was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. FC Grivata's Thomas Sørensen played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicu Vornicu in the 39th minute of play. In the 41st minute Nicu Vornicu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Thomas Sørensen saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Waut Van Der Meeren made a fantastic save in the 46th minute, when Arhangel Vergov sent off a good shot on target. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Nicu Vornicu made a kick off. Nicu Vornicu could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 50th minute of the match, but Thomas Sørensen made a huge save. Thomas Sørensen came out of the goal in the 79th minute to try and stop a shot by Anversa Club's Nicu Vornicu. But to his dismay, Nicu Vornicu quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. In the 83rd minute Trendafil Tashevski shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waut Van Der Meeren saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After some careless play in the Anversa Club defense, Eero Grönholm kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Waut Van Der Meeren. The Anversa Club fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Waut Van Der Meeren should have stopped the shot. The audience was convinced that Trendafil Tashevski's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Waut Van Der Meeren was relentless in the 96th minute of the game.
