Chico Mendonça fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 7th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Oswaldo das Neves having to interfere. Vítor Luz received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 8th minute. Giovanni Pena tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Guga Passos sent away a hard shot on goal in the 11th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Tapera's Honorato Nardo got a good chance for a goal in the 13th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by Vítor Luz in the 15th minute of play forced Júbilo Iwata's goalkeeper Giovanni Pena to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 16th match minute, Tapera was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Geovânio Senna to maneuver through the defense. Oswaldo das Neves came out of the goal in the 17th minute to try and stop a shot by Júbilo Iwata's Marcel Lira. But to his dismay, Marcel Lira quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. In the 22nd minute of the match Tapera got a corner. Júbilo Iwata's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dedê Figueiredo ran over to the corner to take the kick. Tapera's Oswaldo das Neves played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcel Lira in the 27th minute of play. After 29 minutes, Juvenal Mendonça mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Júbilo Iwata and the Tapera players grew even worse after the yellow card. Juvenal Mendonça hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. Júbilo Iwata's Giovanni Pena proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Júbilo Iwata from getting a goal against them. After 45 played minutes Júbilo Iwata got a freekick which was hit by Juvenal Mendonça. 48 minutes into the match, Celso Lopes notched a goal, 1-2, to the right of Tapera's Oswaldo das Neves. Oswaldo das Neves was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-2 lead.
Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Honorato Nardo to make the kick off. Giovanni Pena made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Honorato Nardo in the 54th minute of play. With a little luck, Tapera's Oswaldo das Neves got control of the ball when Celso Lopes tried to sneak it across the goal line. Giovanni Pena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Vítor Luz in the 60th minute of the match. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Celso Lopes couldn't finish the play. After a rather tough play, Tapera's Vítor Luz got a free kick in the 87th minute. Celso Lopes blasted a shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Oswaldo das Neves having to make a save.
