Cercadinho's supporters crossed their fingers, but José Paulo Mello was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Gonçalo Diniz kicked well hit freekick during the 7th minute of the match. Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abdulkadir Turay in the 13th minute of play. Cercadinho's defense didn't have a chance, in the 15th minute, when André Luís Schmidt scored to the left of an out of position Rogério Ceni, making the score, 1-1. If José Paulo Mello had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 18th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After a rather tough play, Cercadinho's Claudinei Pirani got a free kick in the 20th minute. 35 minutes into the match, José Paulo Mello notched a goal, 1-4, to the right of Montesclarense E.C.'s Edgard de Almeida. Edgard de Almeida was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. José Paulo Mello recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 41 played minutes Montesclarense E.C. got a freekick which was hit by Jorge Sá. An unexpectedly hard shot by José Paulo Mello in the 45th minute of play forced Montesclarense E.C.'s goalkeeper Edgard de Almeida to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 1-5 lead.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when André Luís Schmidt stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. After a rather tough play, Cercadinho's Roger Vianna got a free kick in the 52nd minute. Rogério Ceni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Gonçalo Diniz in the 53rd minute of play. Abdulkadir Turay charged in rather forcefully in the 54th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Abdulkadir Turay the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Abdulkadir Turay hit a great freekick 54 minutes into the match. Abdulkadir Turay kicked well hit freekick during the 61st minute of the match. Edgard de Almeida didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from José Paulo Mello went, in the 64th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-6 was the resulting score. 74 minutes into the match, Cercadinho's goal looked a bit too open when Paulão Medeiros came free, but Rogério Ceni reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Montesclarense E.C.'s Paulão Medeiros managed to work through Cercadinho's defense and was going for an easy goal, but he hit the shot with his toe and the ball flew outside the goal. Paulão Medeiros dejectedly held out his arms as if to ask why the ball hadn't gone in. 77 minutes into the match, Cercadinho's José Paulo Mello sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Edgard de Almeida narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 79th minute of the match Cercadinho got a corner. Montesclarense E.C.'s goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Roger Vianna ran over to the corner to take the kick. In the 80th match minute, Cercadinho was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Walmyr Félix to maneuver through the defense. Edgard de Almeida made a fantastic save in the 86th minute, when Valiente Venezian sent off a good shot on target. Through an outstanding action, after 89 minutes, Edgard de Almeida successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Rogério Ceni made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from André Luís Schmidt in the 90th minute of play. In the 93rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Cercadinho's goalkeeper Rogério Ceni, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. An unexpectedly hard shot by André Luís Schmidt in the 97th minute of play forced Cercadinho's goalkeeper Rogério Ceni to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The Cercadinho players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
