Geraldo Queiroz made a fantastic save in the 14th minute, when Adriano Tande sent off a good shot on target. In the 16th minute, Luiz Marquez reached a very good position and smashed the ball with a huge effort into the net, just to the left of Geraldo Queiroz. The goal made the score 1-0. Geraldo Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Marquez in the 21st minute of play. In the 22ndth minute of the game Luiz Marquez who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Rockets's Geraldo Queiroz was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. The supporters of Independente FC booed when Rockets was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 23 match minutes in a wonderful position. Luiz Eduardo Pimenta didn't get a good kick on the ball. Geraldo Queiroz made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Luiz Marquez in the 24th minute of play. Adriano Tande could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 25th minute of the match, but Geraldo Queiroz made a huge save. In the 28th play minute Luiz Marquez came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Geraldo Queiroz. 3-0. 31 minutes into the match, Rockets's goalkeeper Geraldo Queiroz had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Adriano Tande. A collision led to Independente FC getting a freekick after 32 minutes play. Hudson Toscano hit a great ball. Hudson Toscano's late challenge caught a Rockets's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Hudson Toscano helped the player get up and apologised. After 35 played minutes Independente FC got a freekick which was hit by Hudson Toscano. In the 39th play minute Nilson Duarte came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Geraldo Queiroz. 4-0. The supporters of Independente FC booed when Rockets was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 42 match minutes in a wonderful position. Eugênio Leme didn't get a good kick on the ball. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 5-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Luiz Marquez stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute, Luiz Marquez got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Hudson Toscano in the 52nd minute of play forced Rockets's goalkeeper Geraldo Queiroz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Geraldo Queiroz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luiz Marquez, who was totally free with the ball in the 57th minute. Rockets's Geraldo Queiroz played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nilson Duarte in the 79th minute of play. Adriano Tande took the ball and in the 81 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Geraldo Queiroz. Geraldo Queiroz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 9-0. In the 84th minute Nilson Duarte shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Geraldo Queiroz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 86 minutes into the match, Rockets's goal looked a bit too open when Adriano Tande came free, but Geraldo Queiroz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Geraldo Queiroz showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Adriano Tande in the 94th minute of the match. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match. Most of them had left early, disgusted by the way their team had been torn apart. Independente FC fully deserved thier win.
