The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Cléber Pinho showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Décio Messias, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. 4 minutes into the game, Sipo EC's Décio Messias nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Cléber Pinho made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Genílson Gaspar was out of position in the 8 minute of play, and Dida Mesquita capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Dida Mesquita really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. Silvano Mohamed hit a great freekick 12 minutes into the match. With a little luck, Sipo EC's Genílson Gaspar got control of the ball when Dida Mesquita tried to sneak it across the goal line. In the 16th minute the ball was on its way in behind Sipo EC's goalkeeper Genílson Gaspar, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Paysandu's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Mikkel Lilleland in the 18th minute. The corner ended in Mikkel Lilleland almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sipo EC's Genílson Gaspar did a great save. Miguel Victoro hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. Sipo EC's Genílson Gaspar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 22nd minute of the match, managed to save Sipo EC from getting a goal against them. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 24th minute of the game. One of Sipo EC:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of Paysandu:s goal. In the 28thth minute of the game Dida Mesquita who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Sipo EC's Genílson Gaspar was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. In the 31st minute, Dida Mesquita ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Genílson Gaspar was frozen by the shot and now it was 4-1. In the 35th minute Décio Messias shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cléber Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mikkel Lilleland fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 37th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Genílson Gaspar having to interfere. Décio Messias recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 39th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. When Mikkel Lilleland came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the Paysandu fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Mikkel Lilleland couldn't finish the play.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for José Paulo Prata to strike the kick off in the second half. 53 minutes into the match, Paysandu's goal looked a bit too open when Américo Marinho came free, but Cléber Pinho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Décio Messias who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 59thth minute tested the skills of Cléber Pinho when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 61st minute Valdir Arósio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Cléber Pinho saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Cléber Pinho was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 63rd minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from José Paulo Prata. Sipo EC's Genílson Gaspar played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Dida Mesquita in the 67th minute of play. With an all-out effort, Sipo EC's Cléber Pinho threw himself towards the right post 69 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Valdir Arósio, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Cléber Pinho was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Valdir Arósio showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 4-2 in the 72 minute of play. Genílson Gaspar came out of the goal in the 78th minute to try and stop a shot by Paysandu's Dida Mesquita. But to his dismay, Dida Mesquita quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-2. In the 81st minute Dida Mesquita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Genílson Gaspar saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 87th minute Renan Luz suffered a thigh injury and had to be helped off the field. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Mikkel Lilleland during the 87th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Mikkel Lilleland hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. Sipo EC were awarded a corner in the 91th minute after Paysandu's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. José Paulo Prata took the corner. 92 minutes into the game, Wanderson Porto was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Sipo EC's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Paysandu the free kick. A throw-in in the 94th minute of the game was made by Hermínio Rosado with Décio Messias as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. A collision led to Paysandu getting a freekick after 95 minutes play. Maxín Conejeros hit a great ball. Paysandu's supporters were highly satisfied with the result. They cheered their team of the pitch, having watched them win a very even match.
