With a little luck, Donzela de Ferro FBPA's Carlos Germano got control of the ball when Clemente Goiano tried to sneak it across the goal line. Through an outstanding action, after 10 minutes, Carlos Germano successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. Dinei Leme recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 12th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Dinei Leme in the 14th minute of play forced Olinda FMZ DMZ's goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some careless play in the Olinda FMZ DMZ defense, César de Souza kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Edwin van der Sar. The Olinda FMZ DMZ fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Edwin van der Sar should have stopped the shot. 24 minutes into the match, Olinda FMZ DMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Dinei Leme came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Edwin van der Sar didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Dinei Leme went, in the 24th minute, to the upper right corner, 0-2 was the resulting score. Jeronimo Peru hit a great freekick 29 minutes into the match. 30 minutes into the match, Donzela de Ferro FBPA's goalkeeper Carlos Germano had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Clemente Goiano. Edwin van der Sar took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Dinei Leme, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 35 minutes into the match, Olinda FMZ DMZ's goal looked a bit too open when Dinei Leme came free, but Edwin van der Sar reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 37th minute Donzela de Ferro FBPA were awarded a corner. Tomás Amaral went to the cornerflag to take it. Donzela de Ferro FBPA's Bebeto da Costa was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Edwin van der Sar in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. When the match had gone on for 37 minutes, Bebeto da Costa put it in 0-3 from a short distance just to the right of Edwin van der Sar. Carlos Germano showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Raimundo Raymon in the 44th minute of the match. A hard shot by Erasmo Sanches from long distance, 48 minutes into the match, got Carlos Germano's attention. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. After the first half Donzela de Ferro FBPA were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

When the match clock showed 51 minutes, the score became 0-4 when Dinei Leme sped through Olinda FMZ DMZ's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Edwin van der Sar. After 55 minutes, Dinei Leme mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Donzela de Ferro FBPA and the Olinda FMZ DMZ players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 56th match minute, Donzela de Ferro FBPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dinei Leme to maneuver through the defense. Olinda FMZ DMZ's Edwin van der Sar proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 57th minute of the match, managed to save Olinda FMZ DMZ from getting a goal against them. When Dany-Adams Mortier fell near the penalty area in the 61st minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Donzela de Ferro FBPA's protests and gave Dany-Adams Mortier a yellow card for diving instead. In the 61st minute, Dany-Adams Mortier hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 63rd minute of the match Marius Cocârlă sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Carlos Germano skillfully saved the ball. 68 minutes into the match, Donzela de Ferro FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Clemente Goiano came free, but Carlos Germano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Dinei Leme who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 70thth minute tested the skills of Edwin van der Sar when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Dinei Leme could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 72nd minute of the match, but Edwin van der Sar made a huge save. Edwin van der Sar stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Dinei Leme's shot from short distance in the 78th minute. Dinei Leme's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Edwin van der Sar read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. In the 81st match minute, Donzela de Ferro FBPA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Kutluay Ömürcan to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Olinda FMZ DMZ booed when Donzela de Ferro FBPA was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 84 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dany-Adams Mortier didn't get a good kick on the ball. Erasmo Sanches took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 85th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Carlos Germano. Donzela de Ferro FBPA's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 96 minutes into the match, Donzela de Ferro FBPA's goal looked a bit too open when Sebastião Perez came free, but Carlos Germano reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Donzela de Ferro FBPA supporters could be heard counting down the last seconds of the match. They errupted in celebration when the whistle blew, knowing Donzela de Ferro FBPA would go home with victory in their luggage after a match that easily could have ended differently.
