Renatinho Oliveira hit a great freekick 4 minutes into the match. 5 minutes into the match, Gremio NG's goal looked a bit too open when Murillo Catarinense came free, but Fábio Pinheiro reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Júnior Quintana could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 7th minute of the match, but Amadeu Lamego made a huge save. After a defensive mix-up in SAO JOANENSE FC's zone, Sandro Nogueira stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Amadeu Lamego came out of the goal and Sandro Nogueira tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. In the 10th minute the ball was on its way in behind SAO JOANENSE FC's goalkeeper Amadeu Lamego, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. In the 16th minute, Júnior Quintana made a precise shot to the right of Amadeu Lamego. SAO JOANENSE FC's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 1-0. In the 22nd match minute, SAO JOANENSE FC was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Abelardo Carvalho to maneuver through the defense. 22 minutes into the match, Gremio NG's Júnior Quintana sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Amadeu Lamego narrowly saved just below the crossbar. 24 minutes into the game, Elói Cosme cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 1-1. Fábio Pinheiro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Sandro Nogueira received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Amadeu Lamego tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Júnior Quintana who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 28thth minute tested the skills of Amadeu Lamego when he managed to save the team from getting behind. In the 30th minute, Gremio NG's Júnior Quintana dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 2-1. Amadeu Lamego made a fantastic save in the 33rd minute, when Júnior Quintana sent off a good shot on target. Fábio Pinheiro showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Elias Veloso in the 40th minute of the match. Jarbas Guerra hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 2-1.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Júnior Quintana was the one to do the kick off. If Sandro Nogueira had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 56th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Amadeu Lamego showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Sandro Nogueira in the 58th minute of the match. A collision led to Gremio NG getting a freekick after 58 minutes play. Dino do Vale hit a great ball. Amadeu Lamego made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Sandro Nogueira in the 70th minute of play. In the 71stth minute of the game Júnior Quintana who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but SAO JOANENSE FC's Amadeu Lamego was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After 74 played minutes Gremio NG got a freekick which was hit by João Augusto Monteiro. Murillo Catarinense received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Fábio Pinheiro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Dudu Palmeira struck a weak shot in the 87th minute. Fábio Pinheiro didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for SAO JOANENSE FC.
