In a very dangerous position, a player in FC Politehnica Timisoara fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 5th minute. Penalty! Isac Hojbota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Shi Ming Sheng, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After 13 minutes of play, Stiinta-Univ.'s Shi Ming Sheng made it 0-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Shi Ming Sheng scored 0-3 in the 18th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Isac Hojbota, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Nicolae Nicoliță during the 24th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. The supporters of Stiinta-Univ. booed when FC Politehnica Timisoara was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. FC Politehnica Timisoara's Isac Hojbota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shi Ming Sheng in the 38th minute of play. In the 40th minute, Aurel Panait hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Shi Ming Sheng in the 44th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Isac Hojbota saved FC Politehnica Timisoara from getting behind. In the 45th match minute, FC Politehnica Timisoara was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Martin Crușeveanu to maneuver through the defense. Isac Hojbota showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shi Ming Sheng, who was totally free with the ball in the 47th minute. The FC Politehnica Timisoara players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Stiinta-Univ. were winning 1-5.

But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Shi Ming Sheng couldn't finish the play. In the 54th minute of the match, Shi Ming Sheng tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Isac Hojbota saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. If Shi Ming Sheng had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 80th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. FC Politehnica Timisoara's Håvard Bjørke was substituted for Martin Crușeveanu. In the 82nd minute, Aurel Panait hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Eulalio Urbasa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Ştefan Costin in the 84th minute of the match. Nicolae Nicoliță made in the 85th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Stiinta-Univ.'s Tomasz Gacek. FC Politehnica Timisoara made a substitution. Olimpiu Rizea replaced Ricardo-Enrique Bochini. Through an outstanding action, after 90 minutes, Isac Hojbota successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post.
