Didier Lafargue showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nikifor Kulaksúzov in the 4th minute of the match. Gabrijel Jovanovski made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Mihail Toader in the 10th minute of play. The supporters of R.C. Marseille booed when Lipovljani was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 12 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yin Zhen Feng didn't get a good kick on the ball. Lipovljani's Gabrijel Jovanovski played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cyrille Melon in the 19th minute of play. If Cyrille Melon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 23rd minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. Didier Lafargue made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cvjetko Štokić in the 33rd minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cyrille Melon in the 38th minute of play forced Lipovljani's goalkeeper Gabrijel Jovanovski to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Cvjetko Štokić recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 40th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After a rather tough play, Lipovljani's Valter Vidulić got a free kick in the 42nd minute. Gabrijel Jovanovski came out of the goal in the 43rd minute to try and stop a shot by R.C. Marseille's Cyrille Melon. But to his dismay, Cyrille Melon quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1. The first half was very even, with the score at 1-1 when the whistle went for half-time. The players welcomed the break and quickly retired to the dressing rooms.

The wind increased when Cyrille Melon made the kick off in the second half. Didier Lafargue didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Cvjetko Štokić went, in the 52nd minute, to the upper right corner, 2-1 was the resulting score. After some careless play in the Lipovljani defense, Mihail Toader kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Gabrijel Jovanovski. The Lipovljani fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Gabrijel Jovanovski should have stopped the shot. In the 64th minute, Axel Witsel hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Mihail Toader came free with the goalkeeper in the 72nd minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Gabrijel Jovanovski could save by the left post. Cvjetko Štokić hit a great freekick 89 minutes into the match. After having played for 93 minutes, Cyrille Melon managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. R.C. Marseille's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cyrille Melon was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Cvjetko Štokić recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 95th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. An unexpected shot in the 97th minute by Djibril Mourot got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The home crowd let out a huge roar when the referee blew for the end of the game. Lipovljani were victorious despite being under pressure from R.C. Marseille for much of the match.
