Donato Ali took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Themos Leontiadis, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Panionios MK were awarded a corner in the 12th minute after Schuster's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Argyris Ksagorarakis took the corner. An unexpectedly hard shot by Themos Leontiadis in the 16th minute of play forced Schuster's goalkeeper Donato Ali to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Mauro Bezerra managed to get in a good position for a shot. Schuster's supporters rose to their feet, but Mauro Bezerra was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Erik Vale breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Schuster's Donato Ali played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Themos Leontiadis in the 23rd minute of play. Themos Leontiadis blasted a shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Donato Ali having to make a save. Erik Vale made an important save on a dangerous shot by Saul Piarres in the 32nd minute. Panionios MK's Erik Vale played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Saul Piarres in the 36th minute of play. Mauro Bezerra could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 37th minute of the match, but Erik Vale made a huge save. Achille Passerini made in the 39th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Panionios MK's Kyriakos Akrivoulis. Panionios MK's Themos Leontiadis got a good chance for a goal in the 45th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mauro Bezerra stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Saul Piarres's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Erik Vale read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 52nd minute of play. In the 55th minute Musko Cuevas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Schuster's Musko Cuevas in the 60th minute got a chance for a shot 60th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Panionios MK's goalie prevented a goal. Themos Leontiadis might have been able to make a better finish in the 61st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Donato Ali. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Themos Leontiadis ran back to his position shaking his head. 63 minutes into the match, Panionios MK's goal looked a bit too open when Musko Cuevas came free, but Erik Vale reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 65 played minutes Schuster got a freekick which was hit by Flavio Miconi. In the 67th minute Mauro Bezerra shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Erik Vale saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Donato Ali made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Themos Leontiadis in the 69th minute of play. Flavio Miconi kicked well hit freekick during the 80th minute of the match. Schuster's Fernando Morientes was substituted for Mauro Bezerra. The supporters of Panionios MK booed when Schuster was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 81 match minutes in a wonderful position. Flavio Miconi didn't get a good kick on the ball. Schuster's Donato Ali played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Themos Leontiadis in the 85th minute of play. Valer Stroici made in the 87th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Panionios MK's Kyriakos Akrivoulis. Argyris Ksagorarakis charged in rather forcefully in the 90th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Argyris Ksagorarakis the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. In the 91st match minute, Panionios MK was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Argyris Ksagorarakis to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Richy Hensmans in the 91st minute of play forced Panionios MK's goalkeeper Erik Vale to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Erik Vale came out of the goal in the 93rd minute to try and stop a shot by Schuster's Fernando Morientes. But to his dismay, Fernando Morientes quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-0. Fernando Morientes kicked well hit freekick during the 95th minute of the match.
