In the 43rd minute the ball was on its way in behind Maritza's goalkeeper Danail Mitzakov, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Per-Olof Kihlberg made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Marin Nikolkov in the 44th minute of play. When Korneliusz Flis fell near the penalty area in the 46th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Maritza's protests and gave Korneliusz Flis a yellow card for diving instead. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

FORTALEZA's attentive Andrey Lamako managed to snatch the ball when Korneliusz Flis made a throw-in in the 53rd minute of the game. Marin Nikolkov really showed his touch with that goal: 0-6. Maritza's Danang Juanda was substituted for Pavlin Dzhegalski. Per-Olof Kihlberg showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Nencho Markovski in the 76th minute of the match. Per-Olof Kihlberg made a fantastic save in the 77th minute, when Marin Nikolkov sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, FORTALEZA's Per-Olof Kihlberg got control of the ball when Marin Nikolkov tried to sneak it across the goal line. Zeng Jing Yue received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 85th minute. Per-Olof Kihlberg tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Lu Jun Ang fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 86th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Per-Olof Kihlberg having to interfere. Maritza's Nencho Markovski got a good chance for a goal in the 88th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Marin Nikolkov could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 89th minute of the match, but Per-Olof Kihlberg made a huge save. In the 92nd match minute, FORTALEZA was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Sergey Aleksandrov to maneuver through the defense. The audience thought a goal was coming when Marin Nikolkov got free with Per-Olof Kihlberg in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The FORTALEZA fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Maritza were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
