After 14 played minutes Strong Survive got a freekick which was hit by Tommie Vang. Mürsel Lefter sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Douglas Christian showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Saul Owens, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. The audience was convinced that Vidar Alegren's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Douglas Christian was relentless in the 30th minute of the game. Brian Brennand was shown his second yellow card after 43 minutes, following a rather ugly tackle on opponent. That was the end of his participation in the match. After 43 played minutes Adelaide got a freekick which was hit by Brian Brennand. Tolga Tümkurt made an important save on a dangerous shot by Barnett Collins in the 46th minute. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Saul Owens to make the kick off. A throw-in in the 52nd minute of the game was made by Alberto Hickman with Benny Chamberlain as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Barnett Collins received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 54th minute. Tolga Tümkurt tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Douglas Christian made a fantastic save in the 81st minute, when Saul Owens sent off a good shot on target. With a little luck, Adelaide's Douglas Christian got control of the ball when Saul Owens tried to sneak it across the goal line. When the match clock showed 93 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Damien Arias sped through Adelaide's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Douglas Christian. Chants of Strong Survive echoed around the stadium as the match drew to a close. Supporters and players were both delighted with the win, as Adelaide had held the ball for most of the match.
