If Carmelo Tiniebra had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 13th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edinho Lira showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Juan Fernando Pratto in the 27th minute of the match. After some careless play in the Santa Fe defense, Daniel Cabrera kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Serafino Pancho. The Santa Fe fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Serafino Pancho should have stopped the shot. Serafino Pancho showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Daniel Cabrera in the 44th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Santa Fe's zone, Homero Thomson stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Serafino Pancho came out of the goal and Homero Thomson tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play.

Santa Fe's Sandro Coisne was substituted for Rolando Madaleno. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Carmelo Tiniebra was the one to do the kick off. TZILACATZIN's Edinho Lira played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carmelo Tiniebra in the 59th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Rafael Ramos in the 63rd minute of play forced TZILACATZIN's goalkeeper Edinho Lira to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Edinho Lira was out of position in the 68 minute of play, and Rafael Ramos capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Rafael Ramos really showed his touch with that goal: 1-2. Edinho Lira took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Ramos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 82nd minute Rafael Ramos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Edinho Lira saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Daniel Cabrera fell near the penalty area in the 83rd minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored TZILACATZIN's protests and gave Daniel Cabrera a yellow card for diving instead. TZILACATZIN's Salvadore González was substituted for Daniel Cabrera. After 84 played minutes TZILACATZIN got a freekick which was hit by Daniel Cabrera. 86 minutes into the match, Carmelo Tiniebra notched a goal, 1-3, to the right of TZILACATZIN's Edinho Lira. Edinho Lira was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 89th minute, Santa Fe's Rigoberto Lobo dribbled the ball into the box and hit a shot with the outside of his foot, sending the keeper the wrong way. 1-4. TZILACATZIN's Gaspar Matro managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Rigoberto Lobo in the 93 minute of the game.
