João Massa made an important save on a dangerous shot by Tiberiu Huștea in the 7th minute. 9 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper João Massa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Tiberiu Huștea. In the 11thth minute of the game Narcis Dragalina who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but UFC STEAUA's João Massa was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. João Massa made a fantastic save in the 13th minute, when Narcis Dragalina sent off a good shot on target. Ernest Cazimir made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cezar Alexandru in the 15th minute of play. A collision led to UFC STEAUA getting a freekick after 23 minutes play. Nelson Mendoza hit a great ball. 26 minutes into the game, Narcis Dragalina lined in a short shot 1-0 behind a frustrated João Massa. João Massa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Narcis Dragalina, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cezar Alexandru in the 31st minute of play forced Simared -MM-'s goalkeeper Ernest Cazimir to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 32 played minutes UFC STEAUA got a freekick which was hit by Corneliu Hurezeanu. With his leg João Massa managed to avoid a goal in the 33rdth minute, when Simared -MM-'s Narcis Dragalina fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Narcis Dragalina in the 39th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg João Massa saved UFC STEAUA from getting behind. João Massa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Narcis Dragalina, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Cezar Alexandru stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. With a little luck, Simared -MM-'s Ernest Cazimir got control of the ball when Hermengildo Jobo tried to sneak it across the goal line. Simared -MM-:s Ernest Cazimir showed great skill when he stopped Nelson Mendoza:s penalty. 56 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Tiberiu Huștea came free, but João Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. UFC STEAUA's João Massa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Gheorghe Şerbănoiu in the 61st minute of play. 62 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Gheorghe Şerbănoiu came free, but João Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ernest Cazimir made an important save on a dangerous shot by Hermengildo Jobo in the 76th minute. Tiberiu Huștea fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 77th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without João Massa having to interfere. Simared -MM-'s Eric Arghirescu was substituted for Silviu Miron. Simared -MM-'s Cazimir Curteanu was substituted for Tiberiu Huștea. In the 82nd minute, Cazimir Curteanu got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. João Massa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eric Arghirescu, who was totally free with the ball in the 85th minute. In the 87th minute the ball was on its way in behind UFC STEAUA's goalkeeper João Massa, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. 88 minutes into the match, UFC STEAUA's goal looked a bit too open when Gheorghe Şerbănoiu came free, but João Massa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 88th minute, Gheorghe Şerbănoiu left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Simared -MM- fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 2-0. If Hermengildo Jobo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 91st minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The audience thought a goal was coming when Cezar Alexandru got free with Ernest Cazimir in the 95th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Cazimir Curteanu's late challenge caught a UFC STEAUA's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cazimir Curteanu helped the player get up and apologised. In the 97th minute, Cazimir Curteanu hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field.
