In the 23rd minute Ionuț Stuparu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nae Pavel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Isac Goșa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 26th minute of the match, but Marius Bălașa made a huge save. After some fancy dribbling in the 27th minute, Narcis Silişteanu managed to get in a good position for a shot. U Craiova's supporters rose to their feet, but Narcis Silişteanu was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Marius Bălașa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Manuel Boteanu in the 31st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Nae Pavel saved U Craiova from getting behind. Horea Frumușanu scored 2-0 in the 32nd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Marius Bălașa, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. The supporters of U Craiova booed when Juventus Țiu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Ciprian Petrulean didn't get a good kick on the ball. Juventus Țiu's Marius Bălașa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Narcis Silişteanu in the 36th minute of play. Nae Pavel stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Manuel Boteanu's shot from short distance in the 45th minute. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-1.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Horea Frumușanu made a kick off. The supporters of U Craiova booed when Juventus Țiu was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Mugurel Buda didn't get a good kick on the ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Călin Pamfil managed to get in a good position for a shot. Nae Pavel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Vlad Papadima in the 59th minute of play. Juventus Țiu were awarded a corner in the 60th minute after U Craiova's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Manuel Boteanu took the corner. Juventus Țiu's Manuel Boteanu was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nae Pavel in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. Isac Goșa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 62nd minute, but the ball hit the crossbar and went out. A very good chance for a goal. 63 minutes into the game, U Craiova's Narcis Silişteanu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Marius Bălașa made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 4-1. 67 minutes into the match, U Craiova's goal looked a bit too open when Manuel Boteanu came free, but Nae Pavel reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. 76 minutes into the game, Romeo Crețulescu was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. U Craiova's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Juventus Țiu the free kick. Romeo Crețulescu kicked well hit freekick during the 76th minute of the match. The audience was convinced that Horea Frumușanu's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Marius Bălașa was relentless in the 78th minute of the game.
