Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. After 22 played minutes U Craiova got a freekick which was hit by Ştefan Stârcea. Nae Pavel made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fernando Lucas in the 26th minute of play. After a rather tough play, U Craiova's Călin Pamfil got a free kick in the 32nd minute. Nae Pavel showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Pavel Ploieșteanu, who was totally free with the ball in the 36th minute. 38 minutes into the match, Enrico Brunetta notched a goal, 0-1, to the right of U Craiova's Nae Pavel. Nae Pavel was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

Florilor United's Nils McNamara was substituted for Fernando Lucas. The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Horea Frumușanu to strike the kick off in the second half. After 60 minutes of play, Florilor United's Nils McNamara made it 0-3 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Nae Pavel was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pavel Ploieșteanu sent away a hard shot on goal in the 67th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. 69 minutes into the match, U Craiova's Horea Frumușanu sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Nechifor Zbuchea narrowly saved just below the crossbar. U Craiova's Nae Pavel proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 71st minute of the match, managed to save U Craiova from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Pavel Ploieșteanu in the 73rd minute of play forced U Craiova's goalkeeper Nae Pavel to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Florilor United made a substitution. Vaggelis Tsiartas replaced Pavel Ploieșteanu. In the 75th minute Florilor United were awarded a corner. Șerban Rusu went to the cornerflag to take it. In the 78th minute Vaggelis Tsiartas shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Nae Pavel saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 81st minute of the match U Craiova got a corner. Florilor United's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Dorin Cârstoiu ran over to the corner to take the kick. After taking down the ball on U Craiova's corner Dorin Cârstoiu fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Nechifor Zbuchea quite easily take care of the ball. Nae Pavel took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vaggelis Tsiartas, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Nechifor Zbuchea came out of the goal in the 87th minute to try and stop a shot by U Craiova's Isac Goșa. But to his dismay, Isac Goșa quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-3. After 90 played minutes U Craiova got a freekick which was hit by Dorin Cârstoiu. In the 91st minute, Vaggelis Tsiartas ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Nae Pavel was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-4. In the 95th of the match, Nils McNamara tried to place the ball in the upper right corner, but Nae Pavel got in the way and made a wonderful save. When Vaggelis Tsiartas came up free with the goalie in the 96th minute, the Florilor United fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Vaggelis Tsiartas couldn't finish the play.
